New Delhi, July 30 — Another blow for CWG project after regular news making of non-completion of the constructions work on time. This time the Central Vigilance Commission asks Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to register a corruption case against some of the MCD officials in relation to irregularities in a tender issued for the project worth several crores.

A letter of complaint has been sent to the CBI said official sources to probe into alleged criminal conspiracy by MCD officials for granting street lighting upgradation work in New Delhi.
According to the commission, the contractor quoted lowest amount in the tender to get the work and later allegedly was allowed to change the figures to earn additional profit.
The profit amount is not ascertained but it is believed to run up to Rs 20 crore.
The Chief Vigilance Officers has been asked by CVC to re-examine all the tenders and the procurement process of the projects.
The report of the CVC also says, “Almost all the organisations executing works for Commonwealth Games have considered inadmissible factors to jack-up the reasonable price to justify award of work at quoted rates citing urgent or emergent circumstances. Despite higher rates, poor site management and delays and quality compromises have been observed.”
