The whole North India, along with capital New Delhi, is experiencing severe cold and the mercury is expected to go down further in the coming few days.
During day, the maximum temperature is staying well below the normal. The minimum temperature went down to 8.4 degrees C, but it is a degree above the normal temperature. The minimum temperature has dropped around 4 degrees and is expected to down in the next few days.
Yesterday in the capital, the maximum temperature went 3 degrees lower than the normal, marking 18 degrees C. On Friday, the maximum temperature was 16.9 degrees C.
In this winter, the city and its surrounding region experienced the cold wave when the minimum temperature touched 2.9 degrees. In the last eleven areas, except in 2010, January has always been the month with lowest temperature. On 8th January, 2006, the temperature marked the lowest, in last eleven years, when it touched 0.2 degrees C.
