Feb 1st, 2008 | Category:Delhi News
It’s justice at last for the mother of Jyotsna Jethani seven years old girl Geeta Jethani, who saw her daughter being sucked into an escalator at the Delhi International Airport nine years ago. The Supreme Court has upheld the order of the National Consumer Commission which had previously awarded Rs 38 lakh as compensation to the family. Jyotsana Jethani seven years old had died in December 1999 in an escalator accident. No airport staffer was at hand to help the distraught family as they watched their daughter dying. The Consumer Commission had ordered the Airport Authority of India to pay the compensation to the family, in August 2004 but the Airport Authority of India had refused to pay up and appealed in the apex court.
