13th April, 2012, New Delhi: On Thursday, Maruti Suzuki has revealed their brand new utility car ‘Ertiga’. At present, the vehicle is coming in 7 colors and it is priced between Rs.6.16 lakh and Rs.8.76 lakh.
In the inauguration event, Managing Executive Officer Engineering, Maruti Suzuki, told that the vehicle has been designed for Indian conditions and it is targeted at catering to the urban Indian families. It provides more space and flexibility than a sedan without being bulky as well as expensive like an SUV. He further added that with a fuel efficiency of around sixteen kmpl in petrol variants and around twenty kmpl in diesel variants; this car offers about 40% more mileage compared to other vehicles. With lighter weight and a fairly powerful engine; Ertiga also offers the best power to weight ratio.
Maruti does not want to aim the taxi segment as they have already done that. The company is targeting to sell 4000 – 5000 Ertigas in a month to meet their expectations.
The utility vehicle segment in India is growing at fifteen percent. According to critics, this new vehicle will take that number to a much higher inflection point. Grounded on Swift platform, the company spent about Rs. 430 core to make this new car over the past few years.
