Two arrested for murder of Russian television reporter Ilyas Shurpayev
Police has arrested two men suspected of killing a Russian television reporter in Tajikistan’s capital. A senior official of Police said that the arrested men are Tajik nationals & the search for a third suspect is under way. He said he could not identify them by name.
Russian television reporter Ilyas Shurpayev was found dead on March 21 in a rented Moscow apartment with a belt around his neck & multiple knife wounds.
A concierge at his apartment building said Shurpayev had called down to ask her to let in two young men of non-Slavic appearance. Police said the killers set the apartment on fire & took 100,000 rubles.
The 32 years old from the southern province of Dagestan worked for the state-run Channel One, a government mouthpiece.
