Three nabbed for killing Indian in New Zealand

Three persons, including a teenager, have been arrested & remanded to custody on Thursday for the cold-blooded murder of an Indian, owner of an Indian store, by robbers in the capital of New Zealand. Navtej Singh, 30 years old, from Punjab had died on Monday after battling for life over 36 hours. A father of three girls- the eldest being five, Singh moved to New Zealand six years ago with his family & set up a liquor store in South Auckland three months ago where the armed robbers shot him this weekend.

In Manukau district court today Anitelea Chan Kee, 20 years old & Tino Faamele Felise, 17 years old, faced charges of murder, armed robbery & aggravated robbery for the attack. A third man Mefiposeta Chan Kee, 24 years old was charged with being an accessory to the crime for disposing of the .22 calibre rifle used to shoot Singh. The three, arrested overnight, were remanded in custody till August 6 by Judge David Harvey who allowed photographs of only two of the three to be published. The Sikh Council of New Zealand welcomed the arrests saying they would go a long way in reassuring the general New Zealand public about the police.
