Barak Hussein Obama sworn in as the 44th president of the United States today at the US Capitol. In his historic speech Obama said that “America is friend of all nations and we are ready to lead once more.”
Just minutes after Obama, the first African American to serve as president, took the oath of office on the same bible used by Abraham Lincoln at his first inaugural in 1861, he said “Today I say to you that the challenges we face are real. They are serious and they are many. They will not be met easily or in a short span of time. But know this, America — they will be met.”
The 47 year old son of a white mother from Kansas and a black father from Africa, Barak Obama sworn today after noon with his wife, Michalle, holding the Bible.
Obama promised the nation to take “bold and swift” action to restore the economy. He will create jobs through public works, promote alternative energy, improve education and rely on new technology.
On Iraq he said, “We will leave Iraq to its people.”
