Shoaib Akhtar’s banned suspended for one month
The five year ban on Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has been suspended for one month on Sunday by an appellate panel. The next hearing of the appellate tribunal will now be held on 3 June.
IPL chairman Lalit Modi said after suspension of Ban on Shoaib Aktar, “We are very happy with PCB’s decision. After PCB’s no-objection certificate, Akhtar can play IPL. I will call Akhtar myself to ask him to play in IPL. Sharukh wants him to play for Kolkata Knight Riders”.
The suspension of the ban on the fast bowler imposed by Pakistan Cricket Board has revived expectation that Akhtar could play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for Shah Rukh Khan’s Kolkata Knight Riders. Shoaib Akhtar was banned for five years in April by the PCB for breaching the players’ code of conduct.
Shoaib on Saturday had made a fresh application, praying to the tribunal to allow him play in the IPL. He said that the tribunal should suspend the ban temporarily as it would take time to come to a final decision in the case, by which the IPL would be over.
