PCB tribunal reduced Shoaib Akhtar’s ban to 18 months

by admin

The PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) has on Saturday reduced the ban imposed on Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar to 18 months & fined him for Rs. 7 lakh. The tribunal was hearing an appeal from Shoaib against the five-year ban slapped on him by the disciplinary committee of the PCB in March. The verdict was delivered in Lahore on Saturday.

Aftab Farrukh tribunal head justics said, “The tribunal has taken the decision with a clear conscience & under no pressure from either the board or anyone else”.

Shoaib Akhtar was banned for five years by the PCB in April for several incidents of indiscipline & violating the conditions of a two-year probation. He was allowed to play in the Indian Premier League after the tribunal suspended his ban for one month.
