Election Commission of Pakistan has announced 18 February 2008 as the new date for elections in Pakistan.

The announcement was made of Wednesday 02-Jan-2008 by the Chief Election Commissioner Justice Qazi Muhammad Farooq in Islamabad.He said that it would be impossible to hold elections after the benazir death on 8 January.Therefore the Elections will held on 18th of the next month.
