A man shoot himself with a gun following a shootout with police. Several officers were buying lunch in the Sydney suburb of Eastwood on Monday when they noticed a man acting suspiciously. They pursued him to a laneway off Progress Avenue where the man shot at them, prompting the officers to return fire. The man then turned the gun on himself & shot himself in the head.

An official of pOlice said that he was rushed in a critical condition to Royal North Shore Hospital, where he was receiving treatment. The incident shocked shop owners on the busy shopping strip. The official said that a critical incident team has been formed to investigate the incident.
