Lord Stallard passes away
Mar 30th, 2008 | Category:Breaking News, World NewsLord Stallard has died, his family said on Sunday. He was 86 years old.
Albert Stallard, who was known as Jock, served as MP for St Pancras North from 1970 to 1983 & as a minister and Labour whip in the 1970s. His daughter, Brenda Stallard, said he died in a nursing home in north London following a long illness.
Lord Graham of Edmonton, a Labour colleague who served alongside Lord Stallard, said: “He was a lovely man and will be missed by many.”
He also said, “I worked with Jock very closely. He helped to keep the Labour government afloat by his interpersonal skills, and made a great contribution to the survival of Jim Callaghan’s government”.
