John Dowie an artist died

John Dowie a prominent artist died on Wednesday in Adelaide. He was 93 years old. The prolific artist, who also served in the army for Australia at Tobruk in World War II, produced sculptures on display in every Australian capital.
Mr Dowie studied sculpture in London & Florence & lectured at the South Australian School of Arts & Crafts. He was also a talented painter.
His creations include the Three Rivers Fountain in Adelaide’s Victoria Square & the Victor Richardson Gates at Adelaide Oval. John Dowie was awarded an AM for his services to art in 1981 & 2005.
He was scathing in his assessment of developers & the changes taking place in the appearance of Adelaide.
