Four teenagers who were attending swimming trials at a Melbourne lifesaving club have beedn injured by a jellyfish. They have been taken to hospital after they and eight others were stung by jellyfish.

An official said that the twelve children, all in their early teens, were treated on Saturday for stings across their bodies while taking part in the trials at Brighton Lifesaving Club in Elwood.

Two boys & a girl were taken to Sandringham Hospital & another girl was taken to the Royal Children’s Hospital for further treatment while the other eight were treated at the scene.

The official of hospital said, “Our main concerns with this morning’s situation was that if any of the children had allergic reactions to the stings it could have been more serious. Fortunately, none of the children were in that situation, but it was still a bit nasty for them and a big job too for our crews, especially with so many patients.”
