Israeli PM Ehud Olmert denied accepting bribe from US businessman
May 9th, 2008 | Category:Breaking News, World NewsIsraeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, who was facing with allegations of taking “bribes” worth millions of dollars from a US citizen, has said that the money was a part of “compaign donations”. PM said that he would resign if indicted.
Ehud Olmert said in his statement, “I look into the eyes of each & every one of you & say that I have never taken a bribe. I never took a penny for myself. I was elected by you, citizens of Israel, to be the Prime Minister & I don’t intend to shirk this responsibility”.
Ehud Olmert said, “At the same time & even though the law does not require me to do this, I will resign from my job if the Attorney General decides to issue an indictment against me”.
The Israeli Prime Minister is suspected of illicitly receiving hundreds of thousands of dollars from an American businessman Morris Talansky.
