In 2009 1,20,000 villages get electricity
Jan 29th, 2008 | Category:Breaking News, India NewsAccording to Union Power Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, Electricity will reach about 1,20,000 villages in 2009 across India for which an outlay of Rs 33,000 crore has been made. Inaugurating a project of Rs 145 crore under the Rajiv Gandhi Rural Electrification programme here in north Dinajpur district on the India-Bangladesh border, Shushil Kumar Shinde Shinde, who was accompanied by Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunshi, said that an amount of Rs 5,000 crore had already been spent under the programme and Rs 28,000 crore more would be spent in the next two years to reach power to 40,000 villages.
