Gunman killed 5 Afghan mine clearers in Kabul
Mar 24th, 2008 | Category:Breaking News, World NewsGunmen, who is yet to be identified, ambushed a convoy of mine clearers in northern Afghanistan, killed five & injured seven in Kabul on Sunday.
The attackers stopped the convoy as the team was returning to its base camp in the northern province of Jawzjan on Sunday after mine clearing operations in a remote area.
It was the worst attack on the company in its 18 years of operations in Afghanistan. They opened fire into the first vehicle & shot at the others, which included an ambulance, as they turned around & sped off.
An official said, “Three people stopped the vehicle & started shooting at them without saying anything. Five people were killed & seven injured”.
The official said that the victims, who included a driver & a section leader, were aged between 30 & 40 and came from various parts of Afghanistan.
