Firefighters injured after an explosion in Hamilton, New Zealand
Apr 5th, 2008 | Category:Breaking News, World NewsA massive explosion occured in a coolstore in Hamilton town in New Zealand in which nine firefighters injured & some were missings. The injured were taken to nearby hospital. Seven of nine injured are said to be serious.
The blast happened after firefighters attended a fire alarm activation about 11:30 am (IST) at a coolstore on the south-east outskirts of Hamilton.
An official said that the firefighters were told by the building’s keyholder that they could go ahead & break in. When they kicked the door down, the whole building exploded.
Fire officials were unable to immediately comment on the situation, but an official of police described the incident as “very, very serious”.
