Emilio Navaira a Tejano singer was critically injured on Sunday after his band’s bus crashed near Houston. Navaira & his band, Rio, had performed at a Houston nightclub on Saturday night. The bus slammed into traffic barrels just after 5 a.m. local time on Interstate 610 northbound in Bellaire, west of downtown Houston.

An official said that Navaira who is 45 years old was one of eight people on the bus who were injured in the crash. Navaira was taken to Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center, where he remained in critical condition on Sunday.

The official of Police said that others were taken to Memorial Hermann with less severe injuries. Both were treated for minor injuries & released.

The five were taken to Ben Taub General Hospital, where their conditions were not immediately known.

Emergency crews were still trying to remove the bus from the scene at midday & traffic was moving slowly.
