Eathquake in Kaohsiung, Taiwan
An earthquake of 5.5-magnitude hits the southern Taiwan on Wednesday. An official said that there were no immediate reports of damage or casualties.
The earthquake struck at 01:31 am local time on tuesday. The epicentre of this erthquake was 7.2 kilometres northwest of Taoyuan in southern Kaohsiung with a depth of 3.6 kilometres underground.
An aftershock with a 4.9-magnitude occurred some five hours later. Taiwan, which lies near the junction of two tectonic plates, is regularly shaken by earthquakes.
