Mar 3rd, 2008 | Category:Breaking News, World NewsAn earthquake of magnitude 6.5 hit in Sumatra, 146.4 km from southwest of Padang, Indonesia.
The earthquake which was 5 km deep, occurred at 9:37 am local time on Monday.
The area which is prone to earthquakes has recently been rattled by a series of strong tremblers.
The quakes killed three people & destroyed dozens of homes.
It was hit by a huge earthquake measuring more than 9 on Dec. 26, 2004, causing a devastating tsunami & more than 230,000 deaths in countries across the region.
