Earthquake in Lazon, northern Philippines
Mar 29th, 2008 | Category:Breaking News, World NewsAn eathquake of magnitude 5.7 struck the northern Philippines early on Saturday. The epicentre of this earthquake was 30 kilometres south of the Batan Islands & some 225 kilometres north of the archipelago’s largest island, Luzon.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center has not issued a tsunami advisory & there was no immediate reports of any damages or injuries. The earthquake was struck northern Philippines at 6.40 am local time & at a depth of 10 kilometres.
The archipelago nation, made up of more than 7,000 islands, sits on the Pacific “Ring of Fire” where continental plates collide, causing frequent seismic & volcanic activity.
