Deputy governor killed in mosque blast

A suicide bomber killed the deputy governor of Helmand province Haji Pir Mohammad & five other people killed inside mosque in southern Afghanistan. Another 18 people were injured when the bomber detonated explosives among worshippers at afternoon prayers in the mosque in the Helmand province town of Lashkar Gah. Deputy provincial health director Nisar Ahmad said,”Six bodies were brought to the hospital including the deputy provincial governor, Haji Pir Mohammad”. The deputy governor Haji Pir Mohammad was a well-respected, the hub of Afghanistan’s opium and heroin production which has seen the scene of some of the worst violence committed by the Taliban-led insurgency.
