Cheri Oteri’s father murdered by songwriter Richard William Fagan

Cheri Oteri’s father has been killed & his roommate, country songwriter Richard William Fagan, has been arrested for the crime. Nashville police have charged 61 years old Richard William Fagan with criminal homicide in the Saturday night killing of 69-year-old Gaetano Thomas Oteri.

Police has said that the roommates had an alcohol-infused brawl around 9 p.m. Saturday night local time & Fagan allegedly cut Oteri, his music associate & publisher, with a 4- to 6-inch long Colt pocketknife.

A senior official of Police said that the Oteri died from a significant laceration to the wrist. Fagan is best known for penning the No. 1 songs “Be My Baby Tonight” and “Sold (The Grundy County Auction Incident)” for John Michael Montgomery.
