Chantal Sebire a french woman with a rare facial tumour, whose demand for suicide was rejected by a court earlier this week has found dead on Thursday. Chantal Sebire 52 years old was found dead in her home in eastern France.
Ms. Sebire was diagnosed with esthesioneuroblastoma eight years ago, which left her nearly blind & with no sense of taste or smell. As the tumour burrowed through her sinuses & nasal cavities, her nose swelled to several times its size & one eye socket was pushed out of her head.
Earlier Chanta Sebire begged to Nicolas Sarkozy, the President of France, to allow her to die by euthanasia. Chantal Sebire, appealed for the right to end the “atrocious” suffering inflicted on her by the disease which has rendered her face unrecognisable because of growing tumours.
Chantal Sebire told Sarkozy, “In 2000, I lost my sense of smell & taste, & then the tumour evolved & ate into my jaws, before attacking the eye socket. I lost my sight in October last year. The disease caused “atrocious bouts of pain that can last up to four hours at a time. It had left me blind & had robbed me of almost all other senses, leaving me in terrible pain. I now know how to get my hands on what I need & if I don’t get it in France, I will get it elsewhere”.
