Blast in China mine killed 27
Jun 14th, 2008 | Category:Breaking News, World NewsAt least 27 people have been killed & seven others remained trapped underground after a colliery blast in north China. Fifty eight miners were working at Anxin Coal Mining company when the explosion occurred but 15 of them escaped on their own while nine others were rescued, leaving 34 trapped.
Twenty seven of the miners trapped were found dead today & efforts were underway to rescue seven others. More than 100 rescuers were involved in the operation. China’s mining industry is the deadliest in the world with very high incidence of accidents, blamed often on lack of safety measures. More than 3,800 people died in mining industry related accidents last year.
