Blast in a firework store in Al Quoz, Dubai
Two explosions on Wednesday occured at a fireworks store in the Al Quoz area in Dubai in which two people were killed & one seriously injured. A huge explosion a little after 7 a.m. at the fireworks warehouse in the area, reportedly illegal, was followed by another explosion an hour later.
An official said that the dead are believed to be security guards working in nearby buildings but some are yet to be identified. Heavy traffic congestion on the roads leading to the scene of the accident slowed the arrival of fire control forces from other emirates, thereby hampering efforts to bring the fire under control.
The police have erected blockades in the area, which is just behind the arterial Sheikh Zayed Road.
