Bird Flu confirmed in South Korea
Apr 7th, 2008 | Category:Breaking News, World NewsBird Flu has been confirmed in South Korea. Health authorities in South Korea has confirmed the presence of avian influenza virus in the birds at poultry farms in Seoul in South Korea.
Government tests confirmed that the deadly H5N1 virus has infected ducks at a farm in Jeongeup, about 250 kilometres (155 miles) southwest of Seoul.
Quarantine officials slaughtered 6,500 ducks at the farm over the weekend & have banned movement of all poultry within 10 kilometres (6 miles) of the outbreak site.
The duck farm is 27 kilometres (17 miles) away from a chicken farm where the H5N1 strain was confirmed last week.
